Well if you are going to visit the Navy’s Aviation Museum then it is only fair to also trek over to the Army’s. Actually funny timing, our next stop put us just 20 miles from the U.S Army Aviation Museum.
A much smaller but well done museum. Each aircraft on display was a pristine example. Much quieter than in Pensacola we meandered about looking at the displays and dioramas.
I would almost call a few of the full-scale action displays graphic. We were under the impression that the facility is being remodeled a bit, or at least renovated. Many of the aircraft were unlabeled and some of the exhibit areas were very incomplete. The only disappointment was that all of the interactive and video displays were shut down.
We did enjoy ourselves and if you ever find yourself stuff in that part of Alabama drop by. It is at least worth the time to get into the base.
Some of those smaller museums are very interesting.
I think one of my favourites was a barbed wire museum….or at least room in a museum. Never knew there was to many types of barbed wire…OR that anyone would collect it!
