The Gift of a Letter

Down time for me is very precious on this tour but so are my friendships. I often write on here about the wonderful visits we have with friends and family all over the country and my Sunday posts serve as a reminder of where we are going to be that week.

It’s not easy maintaining those precious relationships when you only see someone once a year. I don’t talk on the phone much outside of work but I text like a maniac. That really isn’t enough to keep up with your mates. There is one thing that I know reminds people I care and that I’m thinking of them, postcards. I send a ton of postcards, somebody gets one from us every place we go. I also have a huge stack of them I grab and shoot out whenever the mood strikes me. Recently I have started making some, out of pictures of us.

I once read a book called The Gift of a Letter and lesson from that have stuck with me. The time it takes to sit down and write a note can mean so much to another person.
