Coming This Week: Sept 25th – Oct 1st

We are starting a fairly mile heavy, year-end push.  As you can see over the next three weeks we will be hitting a different markets, the rest of the year will be much the same.  This week has us up in the Northeast, with a stop near Boston and then onto my beloved New Hampshire.

Song of the Week: Talking Heads – Road to Nowhere

Week in Review:  Last week we had the opportunity to strap on our packs and do some hiking.  Being in Virginia for work it was an easy choice to scurry off to Shenandoah National Park.  We went out for a 4 day hike, it was amazing until the last day which consisted of nearly 8 miles in the rain, a touch unpleasant.  After a night in one of the lovely lodges within the park it was time for another hike, this was just going to be a three day trip.  Well that plan when to crap when we stumbled into a black fly hatch, it was insane.  We had to set up the tent just to get some relief and eat lunch.  Needless to say the day turned into a miserable 8 mile march just trying to get the heck out of there.  Alternate plan was a visit to Luray Caverns.  As you can see from below Pippi was less than enthused about the prospect of hiking and instead stayed with a nice family outside the park.

Kodachrome State Park

Kodachrome SP 2014 - ER (3 of 6)

Utah is a beautiful place; the amount of National Parks should speak to the diverse and captivating landscapes. There are also even more wonderful State Parks, like Antelope Island. When we were passing between Zion NP and Bryce Canyon NP we spotted a sign for Kodachrome State Park. That name alone got me interested.

The park does in fact draw its name from the revolutionary film. It is well deserved too, this place is fantastic. It is actually a bit unreal. Kodachrome feels more like a movie set, a bit of all the other parks but smaller. The “sets” are much closer and somehow more intimate than the big National Parks. The colors were brilliant and there was one heck of an interpretive trail.

The best part was that this park is dog friendly, so Pippi got to stretch her legs. I would highly recommend visiting Kodachrome after you stop in Bryce Canyon, the two are close together.

Ultimate Scottie Collectable

Being scottie obsessed is a moniker I wear proudly, you know what I’m talking about. Owning a scottie dog, I mean being owned by a scottie dog includes sporting a scottie sweater or two. I have a few gems in my own collection, like a stapler, the Dooney bag (that we all have), an awesome pair of shoes and a scottie dog tattoo. Yup I have a Pippi tattoo. Josh’s brother, an artist, created this sweet design to cover an old star tattoo. It’s Pippi but a fabulous vintage version of her.
