Song of the Week: Step Out by Jose Gonzalez (Walter Mitty Soundtrack) This song makes me tear up, most just for its beauty but the scene from the movie that it was used in is my favorite, the one that took my breath away and made me see how my life is wonderful.  So thank you Jose.

A Review:  Last week we had a crazy journey with multiple flights, rebooks and cab rids to make it to Dallas.  The folks at Southwest are great and unlike MANY travelers we got there with our bags.

Had some time to see American Hustle, a great movie thoroughly enjoyed.

Feeling Like Mitty

As you can expect we went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, a film I would recommend on the scenery alone. If you are not familiar with the premise let me fill you in. It is based on a short story by James Thurber of the same name, a tale of a somewhat boring man who during his wife’s weekly hair appointment takes a wild journey via his imagination. The beginning of the film bears similarity in that out Walter Mitty only sees the wild side of life via his imagination and through the amazing photography he works with at Life Magazine. Walter once saw a very different future for himself but circumstances changed his path and not he is a bit stuck in a lonely cycle.

Something happens to Walter (no spoilers here) that catapults his to go. During this scene in the film I lost my breath. I know that feeling, that moment when you know it’s all different now and that you must just go. That everything is unknown and will be forever changed but it’s that right path.

Without my Walter Mitty moment I would not know many of the joys I have in life now. I would probably still live in Minneapolis and have a day job I just tolerated.

The movie was shot partially in Iceland and there are spots that will inspire you to just go. I was overwhelmed by the beauty and I have seen some amazing things. This film struck in my a call to not settle for where it is easy to get to but to find where it really want to go.
